5. Cookies and tracking
We use cookies on zonda.co.nz to:
• Keep you signed in to your account
• Remember items in your cart
• Understand how visitors use the site (via Google Analytics or similar)
• Improve the website experience
Most cookies we use are first-party cookies (set by zonda.co.nz directly). Some are third-party cookies set by services we use (e.g. Google Analytics).
You can disable cookies through your browser settings. If you do, some parts of the website (such as the cart and checkout) may not work properly.
6. International data transfers
Most of your personal information is stored and processed in New Zealand or Australia.
Some of our service providers (for example, payment processors, email providers, and analytics) may store or process data outside New Zealand, in countries including Australia, the United States, and Europe. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure that those providers have privacy protections comparable to the Privacy Act 2020 in place.
7. How long we keep your information
We retain your information for as long as is necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including:
• Active customer accounts — for as long as your account is active
• Order records — for at least seven (7) years from the date of the order, to meet tax and accounting requirements under the Tax Administration Act 1994
• Marketing list information — until you unsubscribe, at which point we remove your details from active mailing lists (we may retain a record that you have unsubscribed)
• Trade account information — for the duration of the account and for at least seven (7) years after closure to satisfy reporting, audit, and Personal Guarantee enforcement requirements
• Personal Guarantee records — retained for the duration of the trade account plus the statutory limitation period thereafter (typically six years under the Limitation Act 2010 for contract claims)
• Contact form messages and support correspondence — for up to two (2) years, after which they are deleted unless an ongoing matter requires retention
After the relevant period, information is deleted or anonymised.
8. How we keep your information secure
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These include:
• HTTPS encryption across the website
• Restricted internal access — only staff who need access have it
• Secure storage of physical records at our Waiuku premises
• PCI-compliant payment processing — your full credit card number is never stored on our systems
• Regular software updates and security patching
No system can guarantee total security against determined attack. If we become aware of a privacy breach that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as required by the Privacy Act 2020.
